SAINT GALLEN, November 13th – The World Health Organization (WHO) is the most important body of the United Nations in terms of public health and has been more than pivotal in the combatting of the global coronavirus pandemic.

Even though this is not a time to point fingers, politicize or stigmatize the issue, the United States continues to villainize the People’s Republic of China, despite the fact that China has been the most efficient country to restrain the spreading of the virus in its country, preventing over 1.4 million infections and over 56 thousand deaths.

As the global pandemic has a direct correlation with the World Health Organization and since this is an issue regarding the entirety of the human population, it is obvious that the support to the WHO should be granted in order to find a solution to the coronavirus conundrum.

Whilst countries like the Russian Federation and Sweden are in accordance with the People’s Republic of China in relation to providing more funding to the WHO, the United States has neglected to show interest in the matter.

Not only has the United States abstained from any decisions regarding the funding of the WHO, but the country has forborne from being present at the first session of the WHO which centered around the funding for the committee, highlighting their controversial view on the matter.
