The Spätzle Deal: West Germany proposes humanitarian assistance to East Germany

FRG chancellor Kurt Kiesinger has announced the country's willingness to send aid to the GDR to alleviate the current economic struggle of the region. His intent is providing assistance in the form of food supplies and medical items produced in West Germany.

"We believe our similarities are far greater than our differences. At our core, we share the same German identity" The chancellor started. "Wir sind ein Volk (We are one people)"

This act suggests an improvement in FRG - GDR relations and a first step towards bringing the gap.
