France accused of vaccine nationalism

WHO, November 13th -- The delegation of the French Republic had a lot to say on the topic of vaccine production.

Raising it as one of the first motions, the delegation of France wanted to discuss the promising vaccines and their distribution, and was supported by other Western countries like Australia, Sweden and New Zealand.

Australia’s support was what lead the delegation of China to confront France on vaccine nationalism, as Australia has been involved in a lot of controversy regarding its vaccine distribution.

France took the warning of China, whose attempt was to have France support the equity on the scale of the coronavirus vaccine, quite aggressively and started pointing fingers, which had already been seen earlier that day.

Australia has been the first country to have come up with a promising vaccine, but it had evidently discriminated against countries that the commonwealth is not allied with.

Australia’s actions are very grave and require following up, as favoring of countries in terms of vaccine distribution is indeed vaccine nationalism.

China had then once again emphasized the injustice of the so called Western countries, to which Spain had generously responded with an offer to distribute its own vaccine to countries that are in the most dire need of help, like Argentina and Iran.

The delegation of China reiterated that one’s own country isn’t safe until its neighbors are safe with it and stressed that vaccines should have no relation to money or status, as it is indeed the health of the general public that is being talked about – a fundamental human right which should never be neglected.
