China Daily - Taliban Representative in the Security Council – An Anecdotal Summary

[A report on the UNSC’s Session 3]

Today at the Security Council a representative of the Taliban came for negotiations. The exchange that happened between the Taliban representative and the delegates of the different countries was eventful and full of twists. We have made a summary of everything that was worth hearing during this exchange.

  • The delegate of Ireland had a great start – they confused the Taliban with Al-Qaeda.

  • The USA demanded the Taliban condemn the acts of 9/11, a futile attempt to try and pass the responsibility to anyone BUT the ones really responsible for the attack – themselves.

  • Quoting the Taliban’s representative “The Taliban do not appreciate the existence of France”, and after some further attacks from the delegate of France the Taliban added “What gives you the right to support the real oppressor – the USA?”

  • Tunisia had a very unusual request – the delegate of Tunisia said that in their opinion the Taliban are a big reason for Islamophobia, and this delegate asked the representative of the Taliban if they could change their religion.

  • The representative of the Taliban said that they do not do drugs, and if needed they could provide a blood sample to confirm that fact.

  • The Taliban accused the UK of having blood on their hands after an attack coming from the UK representative.
