News Report: East vs West: Hardened fronts trying to compromise in the HUNSC

In the first Committee Session on Saturday the HUNSC is constructively working on a working paper. The Eastern and Western blocks are currently merging their different interests into one resolution on how to deal with post-proxy war Afghanistan.

The different parties are agreeing on most of the points. However, some clauses are causing dispute, for example: A Nation Security Force is supposed to be established in order to pursue peace in Afghanistan and the United States intend to coordinate it. A clear and obvious fact is nevertheless, that a few delegates are not willing to accept this. For instance, the Soviet Union and East Germany are not content with this clause. The latter´s delegate claims that it shows once again the rule of Western forces over the UN neglecting interests of the democratic and free states in the east. The Soviet Union goes as far as to describe the ongoings as imperialism or even colonialism. In the following moderated caucus the delegate of the US states that he is outraged by the amount of hypocrisy in the debate.
