LEAK: NATO Considers the Stationing of Nuclear Weapons in Germany, Source Says
Multiple anonymous sources operating in government circles of different NATO countries have informed Radio Free Europe that NATO is considering discussing the stationing of nuclear weapons in West Germany. West Germany, which does not have a nuclear programme itself, might thus get partial control over atomic bombs in close proximity to the Soviet Union. This is an important step towards a stronger North-Atlantic Alliance and would be a serious deterrent against Soviet aggression. It is unclear whether this consideration is a response to recent rumours about a possible Soviet invasion of West Germany.
