UN-DISCUSSIONS ONGOING FOR INFORMATION EXCHANGE BODY TO FIGHT TERRORISM
At today’s session of the United Nations Office for Drugs and crime, the delegations of several countries such as Saudi Arabia and China, among others discussed the regional sharing of Information and the gathering of International knowledge. There seems to be a general will to create regional and international frameworks to share information on terrorism, both online as well as offline. This would include the identification of possible terrorists and terrorist organisations. This requires a specific approach and demands cooperation with other countries, and the big question at hand is if other countries, besides the big spenders within the UN such as the USA, are willing to contribute enough. The United States is, however, willing to participate in such a framework, especially since our enormous commitment to counter-terrorism.
