HRC Chairs

Immanol Olite

Hey everyone!

My name is Imanol Olite, and I am a Journalism graduated student currently on my last year of Political Science at Universitat Pompeu Fabra, in Barcelona. Alongside Inés and Aparnaa I will have the pleasure to chair the UNHRC!

My MUN journey started back in 2020, when I discovered UNSA Barcelona in my university. A few months later I joined the association and, you know what, I now have the honour of being the president! Over these two years I have participated in several conferences around Europe as delegate, chair and member of the Secretariat; the most recent experience being MUNSA, in Barcelona, where I also chaired the UNHRC! My next MUN stop will be Switzerland, and I can't be more excited!

Besides being a MUN kid, I also enjoy cooking, travelling, hanging out with friends and going to cafés. My latest addiction, however, has been matcha latte!

I can't wait for SGMUN to finally take place and get to know all of you. The UNHRC will surely be iconic, full of learning and plenty of fun moments, so do not miss out the opportunity and join us; we are waiting for you!

Inés Zubizarreta

¡Hola! My name is Inés Zubizarreta and I´m a fourth year studying International Relations and PPE at UFV, Madrid. My MUN career started in 2018, just when I began university. I was lucky enough to be part of the team that created and launched the first UFVMUN, and with whom I continue to do so!

This year I will be chairing the UNHRC, I am more than thrilled to be part of the SGMUN conference this year, not only for its amazing reputation, but because this will be my first trip to Switzerland! I am looking forward specially for experiencing this MUN with newbies and having an amazing time, specially at socials.

I´m looking forward to an amazing fun time with all of you :)

Aparnaa Murugavel

Vanakkam Makkale! My name is Aparnaa and I will be one of the chairs of the UNHRC. At present, I am studying to become a Chartered Accountant. Having grown up in India, where bargaining with shopkeepers and negotiating with rickshawalas is a way of life, I have learned a great deal about the importance of diplomacy from everyday interactions. My experience extends to both the delegate and the chair in over 20 conferences. MUNs attract people for a variety of reasons, but what keeps me going is the way complex issues are broken down and critically analyzed from various perspectives and how power structures emerge in committees based on delegates' abilities rather than their initial positions. My downtime is usually spent binge-watching murder mysteries on Netflix or staring at old historical buildings. I cannot wait to see the famous Christmas markets, taste cheese fondue, experience snow for the first time and meet all of you lovely people. See you soon:)
